The appointment of Avianca's President as the leader of the association, that brings together the top executives of commercial aviation in the region, was announced during this week's ALTA Airline Leaders Forum in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where more than 500 representatives of the international aviation industry met to analyze and determine actions in response to the current challenges faced by the sector in Latin America and the world.

On November 22, 2017, Avianca's President and CEO, Hernan Rincon, assumed the leadership of the organization that gathers more than 30 airlines operating in Latin America and the Caribbean.

In his capacity as President of the Executive Committee of ALTA, Rincon proposes promoting initiatives to foster the development of the Latin American and Caribbean aviation industry and face the challenges affecting the sector in matters of security, infrastructure, innovation and sustainability.

Upon assuming the presidency of ALTA's Executive Committee, Hernan Rincon said: "It is an honor to have been elected as leader of ALTA, but it is truly an acknowledgement to the more than 23,000 people who make part of Avianca today, and who have worked to position Latin American aviation service at the level of the best in the world. Personally, this appointment represents an opportunity to continue working for an aviation industry that focuses more on passengers and their needs."
