Last Friday, Hainan Airlines Holding Co., Ltd. ("Hainan Airlines") officially announced the launch of its first direct flights from Tijuana to Beijing on March 22 this year. Initially, this route will be operated with the Boeing 787 Dreamliner three times a week. This route represents the first nonstop service connecting Beijing to Mexico, and thanks to the Cross Border Xpress (CBX), San Diegans have a convenient new option.

Hainan Airlines held a press conference on the route announcement at the Embassy of Mexico to China on the afternoon of Feb. 2. Mr. Jose Luis Bernal, Ambassador of Mexico, Mr. Du Qiang, Vice General Manager of Beijing Capital International Airport Co., Ltd., and Mr. Liu Jichun, Vice President of Hainan Airlines, and other leaders and guests attended the conference and expressed their wishes for the announcement of the new route.

Beijing is a major business destination and a tourist center as well, featuring the perfect combination of ancient and modern civilization. Beijing is rich in tourist resources including The Great Wall, the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, and the Bird's Nest, which are just some of Beijing's world-famous attractions worthy of a visit. Tijuana International Airport is located on the border at Otay Mesa between the United States and Mexico, minutes away from downtown San Diego. The two points are connected via the CBX (Cross Border Xpress), a new and convenient indoor crossing bridge, built exclusively for air passengers and featuring its own customs clearance process.

This year welcomes the 10th anniversary of Hainan Airlines' entry into the North American markets, and these ten years have witnessed the diversified and increasing presence of Hainan Airlines in the region. Hainan Airlines currently operates the most non-stop routes between mainland China and North America. It has opened 14 routes from Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Seattle, San Jose, Chicago, Boston, New York, Toronto and Calgary to Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Chongqing, Changsha and other Chinese destinations beyond. The opening of Tijuana will introduce Hainan Airlines' brand to the Latin American market - and San Diego. Alaska Airlines' Mileage Plan members may accrue and redeem mileage on Hainan's new flight as well.

Hainan Airlines, one of the SKYTRAX TOP 10 carriers, will offer its 5-star quality service to and beyond Beijing from Tijuana. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner features a spacious and comfortable cabin layout, lie-flat seats in business-class cabins along with BOSE noise-reducing headphones and Bvlgari amenity kits. Hainan Airlines also offers complimentary limo services at selected cities, round-trip package tickets and other travel products for business-class passengers, in order to create the perfect flight experience.

An exclusive entertainment-on-demand system is available in all cabins along with seasonal Asian and Western cuisines. To facilitate passengers' journey, Hainan Airlines, in collaboration with partner airlines, has launched varied through-transport products, to expand access to more destinations.
