GKN Aerospace has been a long-term supplier of vital titanium machined parts to Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. for Boeing’s 737, 777, and 787 aeroplanes. Within the past six months, GKN has secured additional business products as well as extending a current contract.
As a result of these contracts, GKN will invest more than USD$9 million into new high-speed machinery to further enhance the efficiency of its manufacturing processes and continue to meet Spirit’s demands for high-quality products.
“The continuation and expansion of our support for Spirit are testaments to our innovative industry solutions along with the quality and consistency of our services,” said Mike Grunza, CEO of GKN Aerostructures North America. “We are privileged to continue this in the future and are striving for more.”
The new contract will be fulfilled by GKN Aerospace’s Advanced Machine Structures business in Wellington, Kansas; which offers new solutions, equipment and manufacturing methods across multiple sites in support of Spirit and other customers.
GKN Aerospace’s relationship with Spirit AeroSystems stretches back for more than a decade. In 2016, GKN signed an initial contract extension with Spirit for titanium machine parts, and an agreement to supply passenger cabin windows for the 737.
