Glattbrugg, 19 February 2019 – Germania Flug AG has taken off for the first time as an entirely Swiss-owned national carrier. The company's share capital is now 100 per cent in Swiss hands. The parties involved have agreed not to disclose details of the transaction. Germania Flug AG CEO Tobias Somandin: "We have taken an important step. And we have kept our promise to ensure that our flight operations will continue as planned. We remain on course and are delighted with the confidence and trust our airline continues to enjoy among Swiss tour operators, travel agents and passengers."

Various procedures are currently in progress. Services which until now have been provided from Berlin will in future be integrated into the Swiss company's own structures or outsourced to selected providers. Corresponding discussions and negotiations are currently under way. Until this process is finalized, these services will continue to be provided from Germany. Tobias Somandin: "Our top priority is to continue ensuring reliable and stable flight operations. Other planned steps include rebranding and a modified corporate identity."

Flight programme and expansion plans
Germania Flug AG remains on course for its current winter flight programme and 2019 summer schedule. The airline is also expanding its charter operations and will in future take over Air Prishtina flights from Basel to Pristina on a full charter basis. Summer expansion plans remain unchanged, with Tobias Somandin re-confirming plans to increase capacity: "We will also continue to lease aircraft, because a leased fleet gives us the flexibility to meet the requirements of our passengers and partners."
