German Airways has entered into a strategic partnership with the Swedish airline Braathens Regional Airlines. The German regional airline will cooperate with Braathens for several years. The wet lease agreement (set to begin in March 2020) includes the long-term leasing of five Embraer E-190 LR regional jets. They will be stationed at various Swedish airports and will operate domestic and international routes from there.
Braathens had been looking for a reliable European partner with modern and low-emission aircraft for a long time. With the Embraer jets of German Airways operated by WDL, the airline has now found a suitable solution. The wet lease agreement is the largest cooperation between German Airways and a single partner to date.
Elisabeth Jesse, CCO of Zeitfracht Group, on the cooperation agreement: “We are delighted about this groundbreaking cooperation and are thankful for the trust that goes along with this long-term partnership. Braathens is the ideal partner to ensure the further development of German Airways at the highest level. This cooperation shows that the ongoing modernisation of our fleet is an important step towards a successful future for German Airways”.
