Aeronautical Engineers, Inc. (AEI) is pleased to announce its customer, GA Telesis, is exercising an option for a second B737-800SF freighter conversion. This news follows an announcement for the first B737-800SF awarded in July 2020. The second aircraft (MSN 28826) will commence modification at the end of January 2021 and is scheduled for redelivery in early May 2021. All modification touch labor will be performed by the authorized AEI Conversion Center, Commercial Jet, in Miami, Florida.

“GA Telesis exercising its option aircraft immediately after the first order, solidifies their focus on the air cargo sector and further supports the outlook of the B737-800SF being the dominate freighter in the narrowbody market for decades to come,” said Robert Convey, AEI Senior Vice President Sales & Marketing.

The AEI converted B737-800SF freighter offers a main deck payload of up to 52,700 lbs. (23,904 kg) and incorporates eleven full height 88” x 125” container positions, plus an additional position for an AEP/AEH. The conversion also incorporates new floor beams aft of the wing box, a large 86” x 137” Main Cargo Door with a single vent door system, and a flexible Ancra Cargo Loading System. Additionally, the AEI B737-800SF includes a rigid 9g barrier, up to five supernumerary seats, a galley and full lavatory.

When combined with proven reliability, the AEI converted B737-800SF will allow GA Telesis to keep their aircraft in the air, generating revenue.
