Buenos Aires, 25th March 2020. Following the advance of COVID-19 and the quarantine and mandatory preventive isolation measures ordered by the authorities, Flybondi announces the suspension of all flights until 30th April 2020 with the aim of contributing to safeguarding the health of the population. The airline considers it a fundamental time to make responsible and socially conscious decisions in an effort to slow down the spread of the virus.

Operations will resume on 1st May 2020. However, the company’s operations and sales schedule could change subject to governmental decisions regarding the situation.  The company will maintain active sales for flights with dates after 30th April.

The suspension of flights applies to domestic and international operations as a result of the national restrictions on cabotage and border closures for international flights. Nonetheless, Flybondi made itself available to the authorities for repatriation flights, the transfer of people carrying out humanitarian missions, as well as the transport of medicine and food.

“This pandemic has generated a global crisis and at Flybondi we know that this is the time, more than ever, to act for the good of society. For this reason, our main priority now is to take care of the general population, among whom are our families, our employees and our passengers. It is not easy for an airline to suspend their operation, however in line with the measures that were taken in our country, we believe it is very important to protect ourselves so that we can return stronger when everything is better,” explained Sebastián Pereira, CEO of Flybondi.

In addition, regarding the situation that the airline industry is going through at a global and regional level, the executive added: “All the airlines in the world are going through a situation that has no comparison with anything previous, and that will have very negative consequences. Locally, the scenario will also be critical because there has already been a drop of more than 70% in sales in the coming months and also because the entire value chain is affected. In this context, we must be responsible and act to ensure the sustainability of the company and to maintain the jobs of our employees. We will need everyone when this has passed and we fly again, we hope it will be soon.

Flybondi, the first low cost airline in Argentina, maintains its commitment to the connectivity of the country and the region and is committed to having an active and responsible role in the actions that collaborate in the cessation of the spread of COVID-19.

Flybondi is the airline with the best levels of occupation in the country in recent months and currently has 24 routes (18 domestic and 6 international), through which it links 20 destinations. In two years of operation, it carried more than 2.7 million passengers, of which 540 thousand flew for the first time by plane. It has 9% of the total national market share and 15% on average on those routes in which it operates.

Returns and exchanges policy

Those passengers who have tickets to fly during the suspension dates will receive a voucher for the value of the paid ticket. It will be sent in the next 15 days and will be valid for one year to reschedule the flight from 30th April 2020.

Due to the flow of inquiries that our Service channels have received, it is important to clarify that all passengers who have their flight scheduled for April 2020 will be given priority.

We take care of each other!
