FlyAfrica obtained all the necessary regulatory approvals needed for the resumption of operations, which begin on 15 April 2018, beginning with flights from Harare to Johannesburg and Bulawayo to Johannesburg.

The Zimbabwe carrier plans to add other regional and international routes soon, according to executive chairman Cassidy Mugwagwa, as FlyAfrica aims to become the largest LCC in the region.

The airline was forced to suspended its operations in October 2015 following the removal of its operating license due to shareholder disputes and failure to meet statutory requirements. Its prior fleet consisted of B737-500s.
