Jeddah, KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA – In line with continued expansion, flyadeal, one of the youngest and fastest growing low-cost airlines in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and across the Middle East, has taken delivery of its latest Airbus A320neo.
Named Al Qa’ad (leader) after an Arabic constellation star, it becomes the second delivery from manufacturer Airbus within two months increasing flyadeal’s fleet size to 34 A320 family aircraft.
Steven Greenway, flyadeal Chief Executive Officer, said: “The arrival of a new aircraft is always a moment of pride and celebration. Pride to join an ever-growing fleet and celebration of the tremendous work that goes on behind the scenes at both airline and manufacturer level to meet tough delivery and planning schedules.
“Our latest acquisition also marks flyadeal’s second fully owned aircraft coming soon after our first delivery of the year in June. As flyadeal continues its mission to expand both fleet and network, we have some exciting plans in the coming months focused on increasing frequency on popular routes and introducing new international destinations catering to both inbound travel into Saudi Arabia and the growing outbound market.”
flyadeal currently flies from three main bases in the Kingdom – Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam – to almost 30 year-round and seasonal destinations across Saudi Arabia and selected Middle East, European and North African cities.
Sporting a spacious cabin of 186 seats in a 3 – 3 configuration that features the highest standards and specifications for a low-cost airline including overhead storage compartments with extra-large space, the A320neo is the backbone of flyadeal’s operations. Among the youngest in the industry averaging just over two years old, flyadeal’s fleet comprises 23 A320neos and 11 of the ceo variant.
A further three A320neos are scheduled for delivery this year with an additional eight A320neos planned for 2025. The A320s have proved to be one of the most fuel efficient and environmentally friendly narrowbody aircraft flying today. As part of future fleet requirements, flyadeal placed its largest ever order in the summer for a further 51 Airbus A320 family aircraft comprising 12 A320neos and 39 larger A321neos.
