German Airways will further expand and modernize its fleet at the beginning of next year. To this end, the airline has launched its own program. A further four Embraer E-190 LR aircraft are to be integrated into the existing fleet between January and April 2020. It is also planned to place further orders for this aircraft type. German Airways could receive the next E-190 jet as early as summer 2020.
Dominik Wiehage, COO German Airways: “We are delighted to start the new year 2020 with this ambitious program. The purchase of further Embraer machines also allows us to leverage further synergies in terms of maintenance and training.”
The Embraer E-190 is one of the best-selling regional jets in the world and is used by many established European airlines. The aircraft has 100 seats and is regarded as very advanced in the avionics sector. In view of the announced orders, German Airways’ fleet will now comprise 15 Dash 8-Q400 turboprops and eight Embraer E-190 regional jets.
