FirstNation Airways had its Air Operators Certificate suspended indefinitely by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) over “unauthorized and illegal operations,” as the carrier did have at least two airworthy aircraft capable of servicing its approved schedule as required.
The airline was only authorized to operate charters, and not scheduled operations, which it was offering.
The AOC suspension is effective 11 May 2018, and FirstNation is expected to return the AOC to the NCAA within seven days.
NCAA may restore the airline's AOC if it complies with regulations.
FirstNation is also facing the prosecution of its managing director, Kayode Odukoya, by the anti-graft agency, EFCC, for alleged fraud.
FirstNation plans to address all the regulator's concerns and resume operations.
