April 24, 2024 - Welcome D-ANCZ: The first brand-new A320neo aircraft is expected to arrive in Frankfurt at around 4 p.m. today. This marks the start of the renewal of Condor's short and medium-haul fleet following the completion of the long-haul fleet modernization. Condor's first A320neo aircraft took off on its delivery flight from Toulouse this noon. The first commercial flight is scheduled for May 15 from Frankfurt to Palma de Mallorca. A total of 41 new aircraft, including 13 Airbus A320neo and 28 Airbus A321neo, will successivly replace the existing fleet on short and medium-haul routes by 2029.
“Condor is continuing to modernize its fleet, consistently combining responsible travel with maximum customer comfort. Since last month, we have been flying exclusively with brand-new A330neo aircraft on long-haul routes and are now starting on short and medium-haul routes,” says Peter Gerber, CEO of Condor. “We are welcoming the first A320neo today and the first A321neo will join the fleet in June. With the seamless continuation of the fleet renewal on short and medium-haul routes, Condor will soon be operating one of the most modern fleets in Europe.”
Efficiency combined with more features and the unique Condor design
With the arrival of the first aircraft from the A32Xneo family, Condor is also focusing on modern and highly efficient aircraft technology for its short and medium-haul fleet. Thanks to good aerodynamics thanks to optimized wings and the so-called Sharklets as well as the latest generation of Pratt & Whitney PW11227G engines, kerosene consumption per guest is 1.9 liters per 100 kilometers. This means a reduction in CO2 emissions of up to 20 percent and around 50 percent less noise.
With the brand-new A320neo aircraft, guests on short and medium-haul flights can also expect connectivity on board for the first time. The “FlyConnect” internet and entertainment portal offers the latest entertainment program, which can be streamed on personal devices. Guests can also purchase data packages via the platform.
The new cabin features the stylish color concept already familiar from long-haul flights, with mood lighting specially tailored to Condor and subtle stripes. The larger luggage compartments provide more storage space for personal travel items. With the entire fleet renewal, Condor will also standardize the cabin product for its guests to short and medium-haul destinations and offer the highest level of customer comfort with the latest technology in future.
