Fiji Link Receives Second Brand New Viking Twin Otter Aircraft

The Fiji Airways Group today welcomed a second brand new Viking DHC-6 Series 400 Twin Otter aircraft to the Fiji Link fleet. A third brand new Viking Twin Otter Series 400 is expected to arrive in March.

The aircraft touched down at Nadi International Airport at 5:30pm local time to a rousing welcome by Fiji Link and Fiji Airways staff. Speaking at the welcome event, Fiji Airways Group Chief Financial Officer Nick Caine said the airline celebrates every addition to the fleet, from the smallest turbo props to the largest widebody jets.

“We value the contribution of each aircraft across both fleets to our network”, Mr. Caine stated. “The Twin Otters allow Fiji Link and Fiji Airways to bring guests from around the world to some of Fiji’s most renowned destinations. They also allow us to connect Fijians to their homes in some of our most outlying islands, in partnership with the Fijian Government.”

Mr. Caine reiterated that Twin Otter remained the aircraft of choice for Fiji Link’s operations.

“It’s well-suited to our domestic operating environment made up of smaller airports, varying types of runaways and short airstrips.”

Fiji Airways Engineering Teams will paint the new aircraft – registration DQ-FJQ – in Fiji Link livery and complete the installation of all aircraft seats and interior furnishings over the next week. It features state of the art customer comforts, with brand new seats, air conditioning and modern avionics for a smoother flight.

The new aircraft is expected to enter commercial service by February 19th. Upon receipt of the third Series 400 Twin Otter.
