Abu Dhabi, UAE – Etihad Airways Engineering has been awarded its first heavy maintenance contract by Deutsche Lufthansa (DLH). The contract is for several long-haul aircraft, including the Airbus A340-300 and A380-800.

The Lufthansa business marks another significant milestone in the growing experience and journey towards offering a differentiating value proposition especially to the A380 market with its six-year check. The check is scheduled for the last quarter of 2017 and would include full cabin rework as per the customer requirement, as well as major structural modifications. The announcement comes on the back of Etihad Airways Engineering’s Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Airbus to combine their respective expertise to offer value-added MRO service solutions in Abu Dhabi to A380 operators from all over the world.

Etihad Airways Engineering is the largest commercial aircraft MRO services provider in the Middle East. Its state-of-the-art facility is located adjacent to Abu Dhabi International Airport. Aircraft hangars at the facility cover approximately 42,000 sq metres, including 10,000 sq metres of aircraft painting facilities and a custom-designed hangar that can accommodate up to three Airbus A380 aircraft simultaneously.
