Eaglexpress Air Charter plans to restart operations with US$100 million in capital
Malaysia's Eaglexpress Air Charter plans to submit an application in July 2018 to restart its operations, with an initial capital of US$100 million. The carrier had its air service permit revoked by the Malaysian Aviation Commission in 2016 due to actions taken by a creditor.
The airline will wet lease four to five used B777s, B747s and A330s from a third party for Hajj and Umrah charter services to Saudi Arabia, as well as cargo services, and planned scheduled services to South Africa, South America, Argentina, and Manchester.
Eaglexpress is in talks with Garuda Indonesia and Biman Bangladesh regarding the hajj and umrah flights.
The carrier's inaugural flight is expected at 2018 end, says president Captain Azlan Zailan Abidin.
