Comair adjusts B737 MAX deliveries
In 2017, Comair took delivery of one new B737-800 from Boeing, being the last of the original order of eight B737-800 NGs. The delivery of the next eight B737 MAX 8s remains scheduled for commencement in 2019, although two B737 MAX 8s have been deferred to the end of the original delivery schedule in order to smooth the timing of deliveries more evenly.
Comair also made pre-delivery payments of US$10.2 million during 2017, in addition to $7.8 million in preceding years, towards the delivery of eight B737 MAX 8s due for delivery between 2019 and 2022. The Group has a remaining commitment to Boeing for $440.9 million at 2017 end in respect of the MAX order; the funding options of which will be finalized closer to the time of delivery. PDP finance has been mandated to Investec Bank.
Additionally, the carrier acquired a fixed-base flight simulator for $1.6 million to expand its B737-800 training capacity and commenced with the construction of a third simulator training facility at a cost of approximately $5.1 million, with the potential capacity for a further two fixed-base simulators and two full-motion simulators.
