Colombia's Easyfly files for insolvency and will reorganize
Easyfly announced it will file for insolvency in order to start a restructuring plan that allows it continue operating despite the economic crisis. As a result, the airline will also be able to negotiate with its creditors more easily.
The carrier expects to resume normal operations in September 2020, assuming the government does not extend the travel restrictions. Easyfly is currently flying charters to cover some costs, but the debt burden was too heavy to continue and therefore the reorganization was necessary.
Colombian laws give viable companies that have been affected by the pandemic the possibility of restructuring their debts to continue operating under sustainable conditions that guarantee the continuity of companies.
The airline reiterates that the acceptance of this law will not affect the normal operations of the company, nor the quality of its service.
