To meet growing demand, the expansion of Cobham’s charter and fly-in, fly-out aircraft fleet continues to gather pace, with the arrival this week of its seventh Q400 turboprop aircraft, VH-IYZ.

This is the twelfth new aircraft to join Cobham’s Regional Services fleet over the past two years.

Cobham Regional Services Managing Director, Claude Alviani, said that Cobham had soared into 2022, welcoming new clients, flying new routes for existing clients, and extending contracts with key clients in both South Australia and Western Australia.

“One of the things we love about the Q400 is that it can fly 30% faster and 40% farther than conventional turboprops, offering faster turnaround times and greater productivity,” Claude said.

“Many of our operations are flying into newly constructed, unsealed airstrips. Our growing fleet of Q400 aircraft is perfect for these regional sites, and able to carry 14 more passengers than any other turboprop.”

Cobham’s expanding fleet of Q400 and E190 aircraft represents a transition to the lower carbon economy, and supports the energy and resources sector to reduce emissions and improve environmental outcomes.

“We recognise that different aircraft types have different carbon footprints, and we are committed to investing in these modern, low carbon emission aircraft for a greener future” Claude said.

The steady flow of new aircraft is set to continue, with another E190 and Q400 due to arrive before the end of June, and more planned in the latter half of 2022.
