Jetstar Asia: Clark-based travellers now enjoy low fares direct to Singapore
Travellers from Metro Manila, Central and Norther Luzon can now fly direct to Singapore as the low fares commence today with Jetstar Asia’s direct services to Singapore from Clark International Airport.
The inaugural Jetstar Asia flight from Singapore to Clark, the first of three return services a week, landed today at 6.00am at the Clark International Airport, with Jetstar Asia’s CEO Mr Bara Pasupathi at the airport to welcome them.
Clark is the second city in the Philippines Jetstar Asia flies to and the third new destination for the airline this year.
“Following the successful inaugural launches of our new destinations in Hatyai and Okinawa this month, we are encouraged by the reception of our customers in Singapore and the Philippines, on our new services to Clark,” said Mr Pasupathi.
“Low fare carriers like Jetstar have been operating in the Philippines for many years and has changed how often and the way people travel.
“The accessibility afforded to travellers has also opened up new destinations that they may never have previously considered,” said Mr Pasupathi.
“Since we announced the news of our services to Clark, demand for our services has been positive and we are happy to announce that we have added three additional services over Christmas and the New Year in anticipation of the increased demand.
These flights will operate in addition to the airline’s regular scheduled services between 21 December and 4 January 2018.
Alexander Cauguiran, president and CEO of Clark International Airport Corp (CIAC) welcomed this development saying that Jetstar’s business decision to mount flights at Clark is in recognition of the latter’s marketability and the increasing number of the airport's local destinations.
“The (CRK-Singapore) flights will definitely boost our operations as we are looking at more travellers who may now choose Clark to fly Jetstar,” Cauguiran added.
Clark airport currently has 156 international and 124 domestic flights every week serviced by 12 carriers. From January 2017 up to yesterday, November 27, it has already recorded 1.29 million passengers. Passenger traffic is projected to reach 1.4 million by the end of this year.
With the new airport scheduled for completion by the first quarter of 2020, the airport will have the capacity to support 8 million passengers annually—a huge addition to the existing 4.2 million passengers per year, for a total of 12.2 million passengers per annum.
The new return service operates by an Airbus A320 on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, with a flight time of three hours and 40 minutes.
Jetstar Asia will operate up to 22 weekly services from both Manila and Clark. From Manila, customers can connect to 17 international services on sister airline, Jetstar Japan to Narita, Osaka and Nagoya in Japan.
