Within the context of presenting the half-year results of Austrian Airlines, CEO Kay Kratky symbolically passed on the reins to his successor Alexis von Hoensbroech. On June 20, 2018, Mr. von Hoensbroech was unanimously appointed to serve as the new Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Management Board of Austrian Airlines. Today Kratky has his last day at work, whereas von Hoensbroech will begin work in his new position at the Austrian flagship airline tomorrow, August 1, 2018. Within the context of this change in the top management of Austrian Airlines, Kratky handed over a “CEO altimeter”, an altitude measuring device, to his successor. Its needle is set at 150, a reference to the defined target of making a profit of EUR 150 million.

Kratky assumed the position of CEO of Austrian Airlines in 2015, when it generated an EBIT of EUR 54 million. In 2017 the airline’s EBIT reached a level of EUR 101 million. The new target is now EUR 150 million. In 2012 the airline commonly known as “AUA” was still in the red. Kratky wished von Hoensbroech “always blue skies”. Following the restructuring and stabilization phase, von Hoensbroech aims to maintain Austrian Airlines on its success path. “I am pleased to build upon the performance achieved in recent years and to strategically climb further in flight altitude together with Austrian Airlines.”
