Caribsky, a new codesharing alliance made up of three regional airlines -- Winair, LIAT and Air Antilles -- was officially set into motion following the signing of a trilateral contract.
The collective fleet of the three carriers is 25 aircraft, which are expected to transport 1.4 million passengers on 70,000 flights annually, on roughly 32 routes.
The newt step in the alliance is determing the routes, schedules and ticketing -- all expected to be completed by June 2018. Passengers will be sent through one of the airline's five hubs including St. Maarten, Guadeloupe and Antigua.
Caribsky cost US$5.6 million, with majority of funds coming from the European Regional Development Fund and the European Development Fund. Air Antilles, Winair, LIAT, and Discover Dominica funded the balance.
