Canadian North announces appointment of Michael Rodyniuk as President and Chief Executive Officer
The Board of Directors of Bradley Air Services Ltd., which operates as Canadian North Airlines, are pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Rodyniuk as President and Chief Executive Officer of Canadian North, effective July 15, 2022.
Mr. Rodyniuk joins Canadian North with over three decades of widely-respected leadership experience within the airline industry, most recently serving as Vice President, Specialty Assets for Willis Lease Financing Corporation, a leading lessor of aircraft engines and other equipment. He has also served as Chief Executive Officer & President of West Wind Aviation and Chief Executive Officer & President of First Nations-owned Wasaya Airways LP, where he led the delivery of essential passenger and cargo services to remote northern communities. Prior to this, he has held senior leadership roles with Gavarnie Holding, LLC (overseeing its former Hawaii Island Air subsidiary), the aviation division of Exchange Income Corporation, the Winnipeg Airport Authority, WestJet, ZIP (a former low-cost subsidiary of Air Canada) and SR Technics (a global maintenance, repair and overhaul provider), has held management roles with United Airlines and American Airlines and has background as a commercial pilot, having begun his aviation career flying for Sea Island Air, based out of the South Terminal in Vancouver. Mr. Rodyniuk is also the Chairman of the Board for WestCaRD (an aerospace-focused research and development / economic development agency based at Winnipeg International Airport).
Canadian North’s Board has completed an extensive recruitment process and has selected Mr. Rodyniuk in recognition of his proven leadership skills he has developed through diverse senior roles within the aviation industry, his experience working with Indigenous communities and stakeholders and his understanding of the essential nature and unique challenges of northern and remote air service. All of these factors make him an excellent fit to lead Canadian North. His appointment comes at an important time for Canadian North, as it emerges from the pandemic and it continues to deliver crucial air services throughout its vast northern network. Mr. Rodyniuk will work to ensure Canadian North maintains safe and reliable operations and provides the best possible service and care to everyone who depends on it, while being prepared to quickly capitalize on opportunities that emerge.
Rashwan Domloge, who has served as Interim President & CEO of Canadian North since April, 2022 in addition to his role as Vice-President, Maintenance & Engineering, will work with Mr. Rodyniuk to ensure a quick and seamless leadership transition. After this transition is complete, Mr. Domloge will continue to serve as Vice-President, Maintenance & Engineering. The Bradley Air Services Ltd.
