Blue Air Moravia postpones the launch of flights
Blue Air Moravia, a subsidiary of Romanian low-cost airline Blue Air, has postponed until March the planned launch of flights from the Czech airport of Brno to five European cities, including Lviv in Western Ukraine.
The flights are postponed because of disagreements with the local authorities.
"The negotiations taking a long time, which is not good at all, because it is rather difficult to harmonize Czech and Romanian law. So, we are stuck, there are problems, and, of course, we are looking for other possible carriers," said Bohemil Shimek, the chief executive of the South Moravian Region.
The new schedule for commencement of flights from Brno is not yet known by either side.
The founding partners of Blue Air Moravia are Romanian budget airline Blue Air (65% share) and “Jihomoravska Rozvojova Spolecnost” (35% share), which is owned the South Moravian Region.
The airline planned to begin flights from Brno this March. There would have been flights to Milan and Brussels thrice a week, and to Rome, Barcelona and Lviv twice a week. Also, from June to September, the airline planned to launch seasonal flights to Split and Dubrovnik. It was assumed that the flights were to be serviced by a Boeing 737-500 aircraft with a capacity of 126 seats.
