Wizz Air, Europe's fastest growing airline announced today the allocation of the 4 aircraft to its Tirana base. The new aircraft will join the fleet on 28 May 2021, enabling the start of six new routes from Tirana to Malmö, Stockholm-Skavsta Ancona, Pescara, Genova and Rome Ciampino,. The new low fare routes are already on sale on wizzair.com and in the airline’s mobile app with fares starting as low as EUR 19.99*.

WIZZ announced the opening of its Tirana base less than a year ago by allocating 3 aircraft and adding fifteen routes to the airline’s Tirana network. Wizz Air’s history in Albania dates back four years when the first flight landed in April 2017 from Budapest. The airline has carried over 650 thousand passengers to and from Albania since it has set foot in the local market. Together with the six new routes, today Wizz Air will offer over 1,200,000 seats in the airline’s Tirana network in 2021.

With today’s announcement by this summer the airline will have a fleet of four modern, state-of-the-art aircraft at its Tirana base. Wizz Air remains highly committed to Tirana and Albania and to offering great services paired with low fares to its distinguished passengers. The newly allocated capacity of over 500,000 seats per year will further contribute to the Albanian aviation market, help ramp up local tourism and support to the creation of over thirty new direct jobs with Wizz Air and many more in the associated industries. Together with these six new services Wizz Air now offers 27 routes to 9 countries from Tirana.

Wizz Air is an investment grade credit rated airline, with a fleet of an average age of 5.4 years comprising of the currently available most efficient and sustainable Airbus A320 and Airbus A320neo family single aisle aircraft. Wizz Air’s carbon-dioxide emissions were the lowest among European airlines in FY2019 (57.2 gr/km/passenger). Wizz Air has the largest order book of 265 aircraft of the state-of-the-art Airbus A320neo family which will enable the airline to further reduce its environmental footprint by 30% for every passenger until 2030.
