Bangkok/ 15 November 2018 – Today, Bangkok Airways Public Company Limited announced its operating results for the nine-month period of 2018 which showed the total revenue amounting to 21,067.3 million baht; up by 4.0 percent compared to the same period last year.
Mr. Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth, President of Bangkok Airways PCL commented that, “In the third quarter of 2018, the company had a total revenue of 7,066.5 million baht, increased by 2.8 percent from the same period last year. The major revenue was contributed from airport-related businesses, other related businesses and unallocated revenue which increased by 4.0 percent and 24.8 percent respectively. The unallocated revenue was mainly consisting of dividends received from investment in BDMS during the period. Nevertheless, the operating revenue of airline businesses increased by 0.4 percent which resulted from domestic routes, on beyond core routes, in-out of Samui airport. The average passenger load factor was 66.1 percent. Passenger yield per RPK was 4.65 baht, strengthened from the third quarter of 2017 by 7.2 percent.”
“For the nine-month period, the company has a total revenue of 21,067.3 million baht, higher by 4.0 percent due to 24.8 percent growth in unallocated revenue, 6.2 percentage growth in airport-related businesses operated by our subsidiaries, 4.8 percentage growth in airport business and 1.6 percentage growth in airline business. For the nine-month period of year 2018, the number of passengers of Bangkok Airways increased by 0.9 percent compared with the same period last year. This was mainly increased by international point of sale countries yielding 10.0 percent from Europe and Asia regions (excluding Thailand). In Asia, the north Asia region mainly contributed the highest growth rate of number of passengers with 20 percent on average.”
“Additionally during the period, the company had implemented cost reduction plans including flight management strategies. That resulted in improvement of passenger load factors from 67.8 percent to 68.8 percent. Passenger yield was 4.55 baht per RPK, increased by 0.9 percent from the same period of 2017. The company reported net profit before income tax, amounting to 885.7 million baht for the first nine-month period of 2018. After deducting tax, net profit was reported at 676.9 million baht which was attributed to equity holders of the Company at the amount of 663.8 million baht or 98.1 percent of net income. Earnings per share equaled to 0.32 baht,” Mr. Puttipong added.
In the third quarter of 2018, one Airbus A319 was delivered in July, bringing the total number of Bangkok Airways’ fleet to 39 aircraft. In addition to that, the company increased flight frequency of Bangkok-Mandalay (Myanmar) from 7 flights per week to 11 flights per week in the third quarter of 2018. In August, the company’s Board of Directors approved a Share Repurchase Program for financial management purposes. The maximum amount of share repurchase was not exceeding 500.0 million baht. In September, the company approved establishment of a new subsidiary business in order to operate an aviation training business, with registered capital of 10.0 Million Baht. Bangkok Airways Holding Company Limited holds 100.0 percent of all the shares of this new subsidiary.
