Bahamasair is actively seeking to acquire an additional B737 jet with 138-144 seats in 2018, helping prop up its projected revenues 10.4% in 2018-19 to US$95 million.
The financing of the aircraft is not expected to come from the government, as the carrier, in conjunction with its lenders, plans to transfer the aircraft for cash assets currently being used as collateral against its existing $120 million loan.
The new aircraft will increase frequencies on flights to Florida, as well as be utilized on charter services.
The carrier currently operates three B737-500s and five ATRs.
