Azur Air and Venezuelan business consortium consider the purchase of PAWA
The Russian tourism company Anex Tour, through its subsidiary Azur Air, and a consortium of Venezuelan businessmen, are considering the purchase of PAWA Dominicana, as reported based on insider information.
The acquisition studies of the Dominican flagged airline led by President and CEO Gary Stone are well advanced by the potential buyers who have expressed their desire to purchase an airline with desirable routes and needing liquidity.
In July 2017, Azur Air made its inaugural flight in the Dominican market with more than 300 passengers from Dusseldorf, Germany to Punta Cana International Airport.
Subsequently, the airline announced its intention to add a route from Punta Cana to Berlin. This would mean the airline flying six times a week from Germany to Punta Cana.
However, on January 28th, the Dominican Republic aviation authorities suspended the airline’s operations for 90 days for failure to pay airport fees and services.
