“We are delighted to take delivery of our first A220 and at the same time welcome airBaltic as a new Azorra customer”, said John Evans, Azorra’s Chief Executive Officer. “The A220’s superior economics and environmental efficiency make this aircraft an ideal fit for Azorra’s growing portfolio. We appreciate airBaltic’s trust in Azorra and we look forward to supporting their fleet needs.”
This delivery marks airBaltic’s 30th A220 in their fleet, making airBaltic one of the largest A220 operators in the world. "We are thrilled to welcome Azorra as a new investor in our leading Airbus product portfolio, recognizing its premium value. We look forward to building on this milestone first delivery for many more Airbus aircraft in the years to come. The compelling attributes of our all new A220 single-aisle aircraft has triggered a growing appetite by the lessor and airline community and we are proud to serve those growing requests all over the world”, said Christian Scherer, Airbus Chief Commercial Officer and Head of International.
“airBaltic continues to provide the best connectivity to and from the Baltic region, and since May 2020 has introduced a single type Airbus A220-300 fleet,” said Vitolds Jakovļevs, Chief Financial Officer of airBaltic. “airBaltic has decided to build its business around the A220-300, which is the most modern aircraft in its category and delivering better overall performance and fuel efficiency while offering an excellent flying experience.”
Azorra, airBaltic and Airbus celebrated this delivery event at Airbus’s A220 facility in Mirabel, Canada. The aircraft will enter service with airBaltic in the coming weeks.
