Austrian Airlines reconnects Vienna and Shanghai twice a week
- High-demand China flights with increased frequency as of January 2023
- Relaxed quarantine regulations make it easier to travel to and from China
- New operating days departing from Vienna/Shanghai: Monday and Wednesday
As of January 16, Austrian Airlines will once again operate two direct flights per week from Vienna to Shanghai. With the additional connection on Mondays from Vienna and Wednesdays from Shanghai, Austrian is responding to the ongoing strong demand from and to China. The recently announced relaxed Corona regulations in China shorten the locally prescribed quarantine times and make it easier to travel to and from China. The red-white-red airline is therefore implementing the frequency increase to Shanghai planned for the summer flight schedule much earlier.
Starting in January, Austrian Airlines will operate the Vienna-Shanghai route on Mondays and Fridays and the Shanghai-Vienna route on Mondays and Wednesdays with the largest aircraft in the fleet, a Boeing 777. The late evening departure with an early arrival time in Vienna at 4:45 a.m. provides ideal transfer opportunities in the Austrian route network.
