On Thursday 6 January, Amelia International took delivery of an ATR72-212 at Ljubljana Airport for its future cargo operations.

Growing demand for freight in Europe

In recent months, the health crisis has had a strong impact on the international economy, driving the growth of e-commerce and emergency restocking.

As a direct consequence, the demand for air freight between European airports is growing rapidly. Many routes – previously served by aircraft such as the ATR 42, Saab 340, Embraer 120, etc. – require higher capacity aircraft in order to meet the demand and to distribute all the goods.

An aircraft adapted to all cargo activities

To meet this demand, Amelia International (Slovenian subsidiary of the French Amelia Group), offers an ATR72-212 cargo aircraft. The latter landed on Thursday 6 January at Ljubljana airport and will remain based in the Slovenian capital. This aircraft is suitable for all cargo activities thanks to its 1000 nm range and a load capacity of up to 8.2 tonnes.

The airline is already working with several freight brokers and intends to develop this new offer quickly.
