Amaszonas suspends flights on domestic routes from northern Chile
Amaszonas transported 7,808 passengers on domestic flights during the first two months of 2018, obtaining a 0.3% market share.
The Bolivian-based airline decided to suspend indefinitely its operations in northern Chile due to low traffic on these routes and strong competition from LCCs.
"Due to low passenger traffic and the impact that generated the entry of new operators in the Chilean market, we have decided to suspend domestic operations and to the cities of Calama, Copiapo, Antofagasta and Arica", management said.
Amaszonas will instead seek to strengthen international connectivity Chile with its destinations in Bolivia, by increasing existing frequencies.
