Panama October 18th, 2019 – The Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) is pleased to welcome Amaszonas Línea Aérea and Amaszonas Uruguay as new member airlines.
Amaszonas was invited to enroll in the ALTA-IATA ISSA Program, an initiative created to raise the safety standards in the Latin American and Caribbean region, facilitating airlines in the region the access to the workshops required to opt for ISSA certification (IATA Standard Safety Assessment).
“Amaszonas Línea Aérea and Amaszonas Uruguay, accepting the invitation of ALTA, successfully completed the preparation workshops and, after successfully accomplishing the entire process, we obtained our ISSA certification. The ISSA certification allows Amaszonas to sign agreements with different airlines that have these and other IATA certifications, as well as sign agreements with the different ALTA member airlines”, said Luis Alejandro Vera Álvarez Plata, Executive Vice President Amaszonas.
“Safety is the number one priority of the airline industry and, from ALTA, we are very pleased with the partnership developed with IATA to facilitate access to this important training and certification for airlines in the region. Since June 2018, 14 airlines have enrolled in this program. We will continue supporting the carriers of the region to review their safety protocols and accompany them in their processes of continuous improvement. With this certification, in addition to improving the development of safety, Amaszonas will be able to seek agreements with IOSA airlines in the region. Amaszonas Línea Aérea and Amaszonas Uruguay are successful examples of this program and we are delighted to welcome them as ALTA members to continue working from our committees, events and campaigns in the development of connectivity and aviation in the region”, said Luis Felipe de Oliveira, Executive Director and CEO of ALTA.
