AJW Technique has today announced that it has achieved Japan Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB) approval under the Bilateral Aviation Safety Agreement (BASA) between Transport Canada (TCCA) and the Japan Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB).

The news sees AJW Technique become the first independent components MRO in the world to gain this approval under the Bilateral Agreement, a notable achievement for the business. JCAB is the latest authority to add to the growing number of regionally specific approvals already achieved by AJW Technique, the AJW Group’s Montreal-based MRO.

The certification achieved under the Technical Arrangement for Maintenance between Japan and Canada enables AJW Technique to supply new support capabilities and supply chain efficiencies to trade businesses who are looking at supporting operators directly in Japan. The considerable coverage of the region allows consolidation of customer vendor bases and subsequently, reduces administrative strain.

Counsellor at the Canadian Embassy in Tokyo, Julie Poirier, said:

“The Canadian Trade Commissioner Service was pleased to have assisted in this process and it is my great pleasure to extend my warmest congratulations to AJW Technique for their achievement in receiving this JCAB approval.

“The certification further paves the way for strengthening trade links between Japan and Canada which is beneficial to both the people, and economies of both countries.”

Gavin Simmonds, Chief Operating Officer, AJW Group, said:

“This certification from JCAB is a fantastic achievement for AJW Technique, of which the whole team should be immensely proud. It recognises and rewards the world-class component repair and overhaul support for which our skilled technicians have become justly renowned.

The certification gives us greater trade capabilities within the Japanese market, and will thus enable us to further increase the reach of our bespoke services and trade capabilities in the country.”

AJW Technique now holds a total of nine global approvals, which include TCCA (Canada), which is also accepted by FAA (USA), EASA (Europe), CAAC (China), ANAC (Brazil), CAAS (Singapore), DGCA (Indonesia) and HKCAD (Hong Kong).

AJW Technique, a 160,000 sq. ft component MRO facility in Montréal, is part of AJW Group, a world-leading independent specialist in the supply, exchange, repair and lease of airframe and engine spare parts, with more than 4,000 commercial and business aircraft under contract.
