Airbnb founder Brian Chesky says he is planning to start up his own airline to offer travelers a one-stop shop for flights and accommodation.
Chesky said he wants “to get into the end-to-end trip business" and that he is looking to emulate the retail giant Amazon because “of all the big tech companies, the way Amazon has approached building their business to a one-stop shop for shopping is probably most similar to what we're trying to do”.
Previosuly, Amedeo announced plans to apply for an AOC in 2018 as it looks to offer seats on its A380s to existing carriers or new disruptive entrants, like Airbnb, from 2022. The lessor, which still plans to take delivery of the 20 superjumbos on order, would charge a competitive utility return on a capital fee under the new model.
