AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes confirmed that he is considering launching flights from Nagoya's Chubu Airport to Honolulu and the US West Coast, should he secure the necessary aircraft. Similar flights are also be considered from Kuala Lumpur.
The Group is mulling the use of potential B787s out of Japan utilizing subsidiary AirAsia X, as the approximate 10 hour routes to Europe and the US fit within the long-haul unit's business model.
No timetable on the launch or possible aircraft acquisitions were disclosed.
