Air Malta aims to establish strategic partnerships that serve the interests of the government, with one of the main goals being increased traffic to Malta.

The carrier has evaluated a number of proposals recently, mostly from larger airlines looking for Air Malta to feed its hubs. Ultimately, they were all rejected, as the needs of the government were not met, according to Konrad Mizzi, Minister for Tourism.

Other proposals came from investment companies, who planned to focus on a few routes and drop the rest.

At this stage, the main goal of Air Malta is to be the airline of the Mediterranean, and any strategic partnership proposals must be in line with the main objective of the government.
