The bustling city of Chicago!
At the foot of Lake Michigan, Chicago, aka the Windy City, is home to jazz music and majestic towering skyscrapers. In a downtown bar, an old blues singer with a husky voice sings “Sweet Home Chicago”. Birthplace of the Chicago Blues and a world capital of jazz, the city is full of legendary clubs such as the Green Mill, where Al Capone hung out. In The Loop, the business district and cultural centre, red brick skyscrapers stand alongside contemporary tower blocks and buildings designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, Frank Gehry and Renzo Piano. Equally magnificent and very popular among tourists, is the famous boat cruise along the Chicago river, offering spectacular panoramas of the third largest city in the United States. With its white sandy beaches stretching as far as the eye can see – 33 in the city centre alone – and warm water perfectly suited to bathing (rising to 27°C in the summer), Michigan lake is the city’s other big tourist attraction.
