The Canadian airline has renewed its confidence in the GE90 engine support services, and has opted to extend the relationship in order to benefit from AFI KLM E&M additional adaptive solutions.

Paris, Amstelveen, 27 April 2022 -- The historic cooperation between AFI KLM E&M and Air Canada marks new milestones with the renewal of a multi-year GE90 support contract between the two airlines.

The original contract was signed in 2010, mobilizing a package of repair and maintenance services specially adapted to meet the Canadian airline’s requirements for the GE90-115B engines on its fleet of Boeing 777s. Through this extended engine support contract, the solutions delivered by AFI KLM E&M include shop visits, LRU support, provision of spare engines and on-wing/on-site support.

An enduring partnership with a longstanding customer

Air Canada’s decision to extend and expand its relationship with AFI KLM E&M constitutes a mark of confidence and satisfaction regarding the support solutions designed and implemented by the Airline-MRO provider, which bases its service approach on attentiveness and close-knit relationships with the customer.

The Canadian airline acknowledges and appreciates AFI KLM E&M’s capacity to take into account the operational needs and challenges faced by airlines when it comes to defining and implementing adapted maintenance programs, given the latter’s own position as a maintenance provider attached to a major airline.

Géry Mortreux, EVP Air France Industries, expressed his “pride in seeing our teams’ commitment to the customer being duly recognized and rewarded through longstanding and fruitful relationships, such as those we have been developing with Air Canada over the past 10 years. The renewal of GE90 support services offers further indication of the enduring cooperation between our two groups. We are committed to continuing to honor this trust by providing a service offering that remains at the forefront of performance, expertise and reliability.”

Gilles Neron, Vice President, Strategic Procurement & Corporate Real Estate for Air Canada, added: “the appreciation of our needs and constraints that results from its experience as an MRO/airline, as well as the level of attentiveness demonstrated by AFI KLM E&M, are invaluable markers of quality and security, coupled with the assurance that we will benefit from solutions that have been tailored to the operational realities we face. Based on all these factors and given the positive experience of the past 10 years of cooperation on the GE90 product, the extension of our partnership constitutes a measured and logical decision for Air Canada
