Aerotask Facilitates Kam Air’s First ATR 42 Acquisition
Aerotask has successfully facilitated the acquisition of Kam Air’s first ATR 42-500, in what has proven to be a landmark transaction for both Kam Air and Afghan commercial aviation.
This ATR 42 was formerly operated by Oman Air and was procured on a finance lease from an EU-based aircraft lessor. It forms part of a two aircraft transaction with the second ATR 42-500 set to be delivered before the end of 2018.
With the introduction of the ATR 42-500s into their current fleet, Kam Air aims to increase the competitiveness of their domestic service offering while simultaneously stimulating additional demand. Once deployed, these ATRs will not only be Kam Air’s first, but also the only ATRs operating in Afghanistan.
“Arrival of these two aircraft is the last quarter highlight of what has been the most successful year for Aerotask in terms of aircraft and engine acquisition and remarketing service offerings and, in fact, for our firm as a whole” said Robert Sitta, Vice President, Asset Management at Aerotask.
Aerotask is a Dubai-based global aviation consultancy providing Asset Management and Financial Solutions to airlines, lessors, financiers and aviation investors worldwide.
Kam Air is a privately-owned Afghani airline providing domestic and international services out of Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul. The airline operates a fleet of eleven aircraft serving seventeen destinations across Afghanistan and abroad.
