Aeroplan to launch charter airline in Canada by 2020
Aeroplan, based in Montreal, plans to launch a charter airline a the same time the loyalty program company ends its 30-year partnership with Air Canada in mid 2020.
"We have routes where we have enough redemption demand today that we can fly a daily charter throughout the year on some particular routes," says Jeremy Rabe, CEO of parent company Aimia. "Those will be dedicated Aeroplan aircraft that are flying just for Aeroplan."
Aimia is in talks with multiple airlines to operate narrowbody aircraft on routes mainly to the Caribbean.
