Aeroflot and Conviasa (Venezuela) signed Memorandum of Understanding for strategic cooperation
16 June 2023, St. Petersburg. — Aeroflot and Conviasa (Venezuela) signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the 26th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. Sergey Aleksandrovsky, CEO of Aeroflot and Ramon Celestino Velasquez Araguayan, CEO of Conviasa - the Venezuelan Transport Minister put signatures under the document.
According to the Memorandum, the two airlines expand their cooperation across the international services between Russia and countries of the Caribbean Region. At the first stage, the airlines plan to develop transportation between Russia, Venezuela and Cuba.
Conviasa will commence regular direct flights on wide-body Airbus A340-200 between Havana and Moscow starting from June 18. Earlier, Aeroflot announced the launch of the direct flights to Varadero from July 1.
Aeroflot and Conviasa are planning to conclude an interline agreement with direct settlements in the nearest future. This would allow passengers to travel to Cuba and Venezuela with tickets issued by both airlines Aeroflot and Conviasa.
In addition, the two airlines intend to begin codesharing agreement in perspective, involving the joint operation of flights. This implies the flights to be operate under a common code, so passengers will be able to use the bonus programs of both companies.
