BERLIN – 07 February 2018 – Good news for any of Berlin's residents wanting to escape the cold for the south next winter: independent German airline Germania has concluded its schedule for the 2018/2019 winter season and will offer an even wider selection of destinations and flights from November 2018. Tickets for next winter will gradually become available. The number of weekly departures from Berlin-Tegel Airport will increase from ten to twenty-five, compared to this winter, and an additional aircraft will be based at the airport throughout the winter months. Services from Berlin-Schönefeld Airport will also be extended.

From November 2018, there will be a new route from Berlin-Tegel to the Canary Island of La Palma. Three more destinations will be served all year round for the first time next winter – there will be three flights a week to Palma de Mallorca and a weekly flight to the Egyptian divers' paradise, Marsa Alam, while the number of weekly departures to the Portuguese island of Madeira will increase to two. The new winter destinations are all popular beach resorts that attract sun-seekers with their mild temperatures. In future, even Christmas, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day can be celebrated on the beach, as Germania will also serve all the destinations over the festive period.

"We're looking forward to flying many Berlin residents to warmer climes during the winter months," says Claus Altenburg, Sales Director at Germania. "We'll be stationing an additional aircraft at Tegel next winter and will significantly expand our service both there and at Schönefeld."

As in the current winter schedule, the airline's green and white aircraft will again fly from Tegel to Tenerife and to Hurghada in Egypt from November, with the number of weekly flights to each destination increasing to two. Next winter, Germania plans to offer six instead of the current three departures a week to Tel Aviv in Israel. As usual, flights to Lanzarote will depart once a week and twice weekly to Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura.

Two Germania aircraft will continue to be based at Berlin-Schönefeld Airport in winter 2018/2019. Furthermore, the service will be extended there, too: Antalya will be served all year round for the first time, and the number of weekly flights to Bodrum on the Turkish Riviera will also be increased to two next winter.

Since January, Germania passengers can use Deutsche Bahn Rail&Fly tickets to travel to and from the airport within Germany. Tickets are available for 35 euros each way, thereby saving passengers not only fuel and parking costs, but also the effort of looking for a parking space at the airport.

Germania flights from Berlin are available from only 69 euros one way. Tickets can be purchased at flygermania.com or by phoning +49 30 610 818 000 (standard landline charges apply to calls from German landlines, mobile phone charges may vary) and at selected travel agents. All prices quoted include tax and fees, as well as the legally-required air travel surcharge.
