Lufthansa Technik and Lufthansa have selected leading independent MRO provider Sabena technics to carry out the aircraft modification program on the airline’s fleet of Airbus A330.

Lufthansa Technik currently holds Supplement Type Certificates (STC) for the Airbus A330 and will supply the modification kit design. On its part, Sabena technics will perform the complete cabin & systems installation on the seven aircraft in their dedicated facilities in Bordeaux (France).

Modifications will include the installation of a new cabin and system concept, including some base maintenance operations for some of the aircraft.

“We are proud that Lufthansa chose us a partner and trusted our expertise. We believe that the aircraft cabins are a reflection of the airline. In that way, they should be unique, comfortable and modern. We will make sure to meet our customer’s expectations in order to give their passengers the best travel experience.”

said Philippe Rochet, Chief Operating Officer of Sabena technics.

First aircraft is expected this month in Sabena technics’s facility and the end of the program is scheduled in spring 2018.

Additionally, the three companies have agreed to keep looking for opportunities to work together in various areas in the future by renewing their cooperation GTA signed in 2014.

Sabena technics is an EASA PART/FRA 21J& 21G organization able to carry out and certify both minor (through its DOA) and major modifications (Supplemental Type Certificate). The EASA PART 145 capability also allows Sabena technics to offer turnkey solutions projects to its customers worldwide.
