Iran Air has taken delivery of its first Airbus A330 aircraft. The delivery is the first wide body delivery, part of the mega-order it placed with Airbus in December.

First A330 for Iran Air

In December, Airbus finalized an order for 98 aircraft with Iran Air. Despite the biggest aircraft in the Airbus product line up being dropped from final agreement, the order can be regarded as an important one for Airbus.

Whereas Airbus was able to finalize an order with Iran, Boeing was and to this date has been unable to do so.

Meanwhile Airbus has already started delivering the first aircraft to Iran. In January, the European jet maker delivered the first Airbus A321ceo winglet equipped aircraft the Iranian airline and on the tenth of March the jet maker was also the first to provide the first wide body jet to the carrier.

Iran Air has ordered a total of 36 Airbus A330 aircraft, 8 Airbus A330-200ceos and 28 for the biggest neo variant. Iran Air’s A330-200 features a two class cabin layout, seating 32 passengers in business and 206 in economy.
