Germania is strengthening its presence at Bremen airport by stationing an additional aircraft there. By winter 2018/19, the airline will have increased the number of green and white aircraft based at Bremen's Hans-Koschnick Airport from currently two to three planes. This number is due to rise to four aircraft in summer 2019, all of them Airbus A320s. As a result, Germania will be consolidating its position as the leading holiday airline at Bremen airport and creates new jobs at that location.

"Given the changes affecting the constellation of German airlines, we decided to expand and further develop relations with our bases in regional conurbations," said Claus Altenburg, Director Sales at Germania at a press conference. Germania sees growth potential in Bremen in developing its holiday routes and flights for family travel. Furthermore, the airline is also expanding its technical division. Germania will be creating 34 new jobs in Bremen in total.

From winter 2018/19 onwards, the airline with the green and white livery will be operating flights from Bremen to all the larger Canary Islands, including a new weekly flight to La Palma. Starting in March, services to destinations such as Palma de Mallorca and Athens will be operated throughout the year so that winter flights to these places will also become available. Capacities on services to Antalya in Turkey are also being increased. In addition to developing its tourist schedule, Germania is looking closely at various city destinations, among them a nonstop service to Madrid in conjunction with its partner Air Europa.

"A business partner like Germania is of great value because of the airline's long-term commitment to the region," commented Ekkehart Siering, State Councillor for economy, labour and ports in the Senate in response to the news. "With Germania, Bremen can continually expand its traffic flow, develop incoming traffic and trade, and plan specific infrastructure investments."

Florian Kruse, Divisional Manager Sales and Marketing at Flughafen Bremen GmbH: "Stationing another aircraft at Bremen means more seats on the market for people heading for the sun from Bremen airport. Germania's decision underlines our long-standing and solid business association."
