Miami, August 8, 2017 – The Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) announced today that Latin America and Caribbean airlines carried 13 million passengers in June, up 5.5% from the previous year, excluding domestic traffic in Brazil, marking the 70th consecutive month of passenger traffic growth for Latin America and Caribbean airlines. Traffic (RPK) grew 8.7% and capacity (ASK) increased 7.3%, bringing up the load factor to 82.9%, equivalent to 1.1 percentage points higher than in June 2016 (see table 1).

Overall, Latin America and Caribbean airlines carried 19.9 million passengers in June, up 4.6% - or 876,000 more passengers - from the previous year. Traffic (RPK) grew 7.1% and capacity (ASK) increased 5.3%, bringing up the load factor to 82.3%, 1.4 percentage points higher than in June 2016.

Latin America and Caribbean airlines carried 2.1 million passengers to and from Latin America and the Caribbean in June, up 9.5% from the previous year (see table 3). Traffic (RPK) grew 11% and capacity (ASK) increased 12.7%, bringing the load factor to 85.8%, equivalent to 1.2% percentage higher lower than in June 2016.
