• The airline will finish repaying the bank loan next August, four years before its maturity date.

Madrid, May 17, 2024.- Air Europa has advanced this Friday the return of 53 million euros, with which it has already returned more than half of the bank loan of 141 million euros received in May 2020 with participation and guarantee of the Official Credit Institute (ICO). The airline has prepaid 53 million euros, which are added to the amounts already returned to date, as well as to the entire interest on the credit.

Likewise, Air Europa estimates to complete the payment of the rest of the credit next August. In this way, it brings forward its cancellation by several years and advances the process of financial deleveraging. The loan, provided by a pool of banks together with the ICO and which contributed to maintaining operations in the face of the paralysis of air activity forced by the COVID-19 crisis, had its maturity date in 2028.

With this initiative, Air Europa demonstrates the strength of the company, as well as its ability to fulfill the commitments acquired in a complex context in recent years for the airline sector.
